Call NowDog & Puppy Vaccinations We Provide in Calgary
We vaccinate dogs from their first puppy shots through adulthood. Every dog gets the core vaccines, and we add lifestyle vaccines based on where the dog goes and what it may be exposed to.
Core Vaccines for Dogs: Rabies & DHPP
- Rabies: This vaccine protects against a fatal virus that spreads through bites and can pass to people.
- DHPP: This combination vaccine protects dogs against distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus and parainfluenza.
Lifestyle Vaccines for Dogs
- Bordetella: This vaccine protects against kennel cough and is often required for boarding, daycare and grooming.
- Leptospirosis: This vaccine protects against a bacterial infection that dogs can catch from standing water and wildlife.
- Lyme: This vaccine protects against Lyme disease, which ticks spread, and is recommended for dogs that travel to areas where it is common.
Puppy Vaccination Schedule
We give a puppy’s first vaccines over three visits, a few weeks apart.
- 8 weeks: The puppy gets its first DHPP vaccine.
- 12 weeks: The puppy gets its second DHPP vaccine, and lifestyle vaccines can start.
- 16 weeks: The puppy gets its third DHPP vaccine and its rabies vaccine.
- 1 year: The dog gets its first DHPP and rabies boosters.
Booster Shots for Adult Dogs
After the one-year boosters, we keep adult dogs protected on this schedule:
- DHPP and rabies: These boosters are given every three years.
- Bordetella, leptospirosis and Lyme: These boosters are given every year.

- FeLV: This booster is given every year to cats that go outdoors or live with other cats.
What to Expect at a Vaccine Appointment
Every vaccine appointment includes a complete exam by one of our veterinarians, to make sure the pet is healthy and ready to be vaccinated. The veterinarian goes over the vaccines being given that day and answers any questions you have.
The vaccines themselves take only a few minutes. Before you leave, we update the pet’s vaccine record and book the next booster appointment.
Most pets go home and carry on as usual. Some are a little tired or sore for a day, which is normal. If anything seems off, call us.

Dog & Cat Vaccinations FAQs
How much do dog and cat vaccinations cost in Calgary?
Cost depends on the pet’s age and how many vaccines they need. Call us for a quote.
Do you take walk-ins for vaccinations?
Yes. You can walk in for vaccines, or call to book a same-day appointment.
Are you accepting new clients?
Yes. New clients are always welcome. Bring any vaccine records you have to the first visit.
What if a pet has missed a booster or has no vaccine records?
A missed booster does not usually mean starting over. The veterinarian looks at the pet’s history and recommends a catch-up plan, which is often a single booster. Pets with no records, such as adopted adults, may need two visits a few weeks apart.
Do indoor cats need vaccines?
Yes. Indoor cats still need their core vaccines, since some viruses can come into a home on shoes and clothing. Adult indoor cats that live alone usually do not need FeLV boosters.
Which vaccines do kennels and daycares require?
Most ask for rabies, DHPP and bordetella for dogs, and rabies and FVRCP for cats. Requirements vary, so check with the kennel or daycare before booking.
Can I get a copy of my pet’s vaccine records?
Yes. We can provide a copy of a pet’s vaccine records at any time, for a kennel, daycare, groomer or travel.

I can't say enough good things about this clinic. They took amazing care of my 10-year-old Husky from the moment we walked in. The staff were incredibly kind, compassionate, and welcoming and we were able to get in quickly, which was much appreciated!

I can't recommend this clinic enough! Every single member of the team was incredibly kind, compassionate, and genuinely cared about both my cat and me throughout a very stressful situation. From the moment we walked in, they treated us with patience, understanding, and professionalism.
Elizabeth G.Pet Owner
Fantastic experience at this animal hospital. Our dog is quite anxious and we wanted to avoid overnight hospitalization for pancreatitis and they went above and beyond to accommodate. We even got a to-go package for an upcoming camping trip. We will be switching to this clinic for ongoing care for our dog.
