Call NowWhat to Expect Before, During and After Surgery
Before Surgery
Every surgery starts with a consultation with one of our veterinarians. They’ll examine your pet, explain the procedure and give you an estimate.
Depending on your pet’s age, health and the procedure, our veterinarians may require pre-anesthetic bloodwork, which checks that your pet’s organs can safely process anesthesia.
When you book, we’ll go over everything you need to do to prepare, including when to stop feeding your pet and what time to drop them off.
For urgent cases, the exam, bloodwork and surgery can often happen the same day.
Surgery Day
On the day of surgery, you’ll drop off your pet in the morning. A member of our team will check them in, confirm they haven’t eaten and answer any last questions you have.
Most surgeries are done under general anesthesia. Our team monitors your pet closely throughout the procedure, and we give pain medication to keep them comfortable.
We’ll call you when surgery is finished to let you know how it went and when your pet can go home.
Recovery at Home
When you pick up your pet, we’ll go over their at-home care and send you home with written instructions and any medications they need.
Most pets need a few days to several weeks to recover, depending on the procedure.
If your pet needs a recheck, we’ll book it before you go home. If anything seems off during recovery, give us a call.

Dog & Cat Surgery FAQs
How much does pet surgery cost at your clinic?
It depends on the procedure and on your pet’s size and health. Call us for a quote.
Do you accept pet insurance?
Yes. We can bill some insurers directly, so you only pay your share at pickup. With other insurers, you pay at the time of service and send the claim to your insurer for reimbursement.
Do I need a referral for my pet’s surgery?
No. You don’t need a referral for any of the surgeries we offer. Call us to book a consultation, and we’ll examine your pet and talk through the next steps.
Is anesthesia safe for my pet?
For most healthy pets, anesthesia is quite safe, thanks to modern anesthetics and careful monitoring. No anesthesia is completely risk-free, so we take steps to keep the risk as low as possible.
These include a physical exam and, where needed, bloodwork before the procedure, an anesthetic plan tailored to your pet and close monitoring of heart rate, breathing and oxygen levels while they’re under anesthesia.
Is my pet too old for surgery?
Age alone isn’t a reason to avoid surgery. What matters more is your pet’s overall health.
For senior pets, we often recommend bloodwork and sometimes other tests before anesthesia, and we tailor the anesthetic plan to their needs. Our veterinarians will talk you through the risks and benefits so you can decide together.
Will my pet go home the same day?
Yes. We only do surgeries that let pets go home the same day, so your pet can recover at home with you. If your pet’s surgery would need an overnight stay, we’ll refer them to a 24-hour hospital.
Will my pet need stitches removed?
It depends on the surgery. Some incisions are closed with dissolvable stitches under the skin. Others have stitches or staples that we remove at a recheck, usually 10 to 14 days after surgery.

I had called them in a panic when my cat (Rook) had a confirmed foreign object in her intestines … Dr Daliwal was able to keep me informed throughout her surgery, and when his call came through that the surgery was a success and no serious damage had been done, I was overwhelmed by relief.
Terri H.Pet Owner
They were amazing helping my kitten. From pre surgery to post surgery, the special vet cat food they provided free of charge, and the very thorough post surgery instructions they provided, this hospital made both of our lives easier on my cat’s worst day.
Morgan N.Pet Owner
I can't say enough good things about this clinic. They took amazing care of my 10-year-old Husky from the moment we walked in. The staff were incredibly kind, compassionate, and welcoming and we were able to get in quickly, which was much appreciated!
